Zoe Tamerlis, Posters

An unique poster for an unique film, this one is a perfect reflection of what can be expected in viewing the movie. After many Death Wish sequels and clones in the seventies and early eighties, vigilante cinema could proclaim to welcome a formidable female avenging angel, wiping real and imagined scum on the mean streets of New York City. Ms. 45 is still unforgettable to this day, thanks for the amazing performance of its lead actress, the late Zoë Tamerlis, who was not even twenty years old at the time of filming.

Julie Ege, Bond Girls, Deaths
No Comments
She only made around 20 films, but Norwegian Julie Ege still left a mark on movie audiences. She was a former Bond Girl and Hammer Glamour Girl, as well as a player in some sexy comedies. She was memorably seen in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (as The Scandinavian Girl), in the prehistoric adventure Creatures the World Forgot (my favorite role of hers, as Nala), in the sci-fi cult classic The Finale Programme and of course in the bizarre kung-fu Dracula film The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires. Also a former Miss Norway (in 1962) and Miss Universe contestant, Julie became a sought out pin-up model and former Penthouse Pet, got married two times and had two daughters. After retiring from the public eye, she worked as a nurse, successfully battling breast cancer around 1986 or so. Sadly, that same illness got the better of her last April 29, when she passed on at the age of 64. Another Siren gone to soon.

Bondage Models, Jewell Marceau

Another niche that could be worth exploring from time to time is the wonderful world of bondage models. Since the first days of the Internet, sexy photos have been rapidly made available and of course every fantasy was rapidly catered to. BDSM sites are quite many these days and with a bit a research we can rapidly become acquainted with a lot of familiar faces in a short time. So let me introduce to you a person that has been part of the scene since around 1995 or so, taking that kind of work very seriously, to our great delight. She is of course Jewell Marceau.
She was born either in 1973 or 1975, depending of sources, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Sometimes known as Scarlett Fever in her debut in girls-only erotica, she slowly made a good reputation by enthusiastically shooting a ton of bondage vignettes with many well-known performers and studios (mainly Harmony Concepts and the sadly defunct Devonshire Productions).
A dedicated performer, this spicy lady just loves it as tight as possible. Quite an accomplished talent, Jewell has directed many of her own scenes and films and is quite imaginative. Better known for displaying an intriguing look of innocence, beware her reaction when the submission becomes unbearable! Or the tickling! A couple of years back, she made the trip to my home town of Montreal for some Fetish Night celebration and, oh boy, was it memorable! She now operates her own film production company and there’s of course the official website (beware, it contains nudity and all sorts of graphic stuff!).
There are a lot of interesting ladies out there being tied up for that kind of product… should we dare say that they suffer with dignity for their work?

Deaths, Hazel Court

Nobody lasts forever, they say, but some legends will never die. The memory of Scream Queen Hazel Court will stay with us as long as there are movie fans. She was a unique performer, who could effortlessly mix elegance and sexiness in a single scene.
Court passed away after a heart attack at her home near Lake Tahoe, California, last Tuesday.

Posters, Raquel Welch

If you’re a wrestling fan, you’ll remember a couple of years back when The Undertaker crucified Stone Cold Steve Austin on his devilish symbol… and this caused quite a stir, the segment actually being edited out on Canadian television! Now imagine being back in 1966 and witness the following image by photographer Terry O’Neill, where Raquel Welch was on the verge of stardom for her role in One Million Years BC. O’Neill claimed that this piece was a reflection on the ideal of womanhood of the time, as women were valued only for their sexuality. Fans probably didn’t care for the deep thought… but controversy brewed nevertheless. As you can guess, the real official poster presented a less provocative Raquel pose… but still sexy.

Monica Bellucci

Well, we didn’t see enough of them! In any movie adaptation, ever! Funny, because in Bram Stoker’s classic novel, still even with limited presence, the participation of this trio of brides (or slaves?) of Dracula’s is incredibly erotic in its subtext. Let’s take a look at three very important adaptation of the story that at least tried to give us a glimpse of these sexy but still creepy creatures.
Dracula (1931)
Is it still necessary to present that legendary production, that is still revered and affectionately parodied to this day? Very creaky but still beloved, Tod Browning presents us with a very peculiar trio of Brides, that seems to be gliding on the ground instead of merely walking. We think more of blood-sucking leeches than bats in their short scene. For me, they are without a doubt my favorite chill of the entire movie. They were played by Geraldine Dvorak, Cornelia Thaw and Dorothy Tree, who replayed their respective roles in the Spanish-speaking adaptation Drácula the same year.

Count Dracula (1977)
The British television production gave me quite a fright as a teen, with another trio of Brides taking great delight in a good old-fashioned bloody feast. A quick shot of their delighted faces licking gore from their lips and fangs gave me quite a jolt, an unexpected surprise coming from a TV movie. But even with a limited budget, this is still an incredibly faithful version of the tale. This time the actresses were Susie Hickford, Belinda Meuldijk and Sue Vanner.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)
A more modern twist meant a lot more sex-appeal, as seen here when the Brides try to seduce Jonathan Harker. Even an actor as wooden as Keanu Reeves could still offer a portrayal that is a mix of delighted eroticism and utter revulsion. Of course, it helps being surrounded by Monica Bellucci, Michaela Bercu and Florina Kendrick. Single-minded and very fleshy, these Brides are sensual in a very feral way.

I’m still waiting for a movie solely devoted to these three ladies, with info background and up to date data. How about it? A new franchise just waiting to happen…

Tandra Quinn
No Comments
If you want only one reason to watch Mesa of Lost Women, well it’s really simple: the silent presence of gorgeous actress Tandra Quinn as a Spider Woman does it for me! This movie is so bad that it becomes actually enjoyable and the music will drive you up the walls. It concerns a mad scientist trying to create a race of powerful beings having the characteristics of both human and insect. Tandra plays Tarantella who favors us with a sexy dance in a nightclub, the highlight of the whole show.

Born on March 27, 1931 as Derline Jeanette Smith, she was considered at age two to be the “Perfect Baby of America” at a Los Angeles show. Things were already looking up! As a youngster, she studied drama and dancing and actually lost the lead part in National Velvet to an equally young Elizabeth Taylor, around 1944 or so. 20th Century-Fox eventually signed her to a seven-year contract, but changed opinion rapidly, apparently ill at ease with her facial features after learning that Tandra had suffered a burning accident as a toddler (hum… what?). She still made her movie debut in Week-End at the Waldorf as a schoolgirl in 1945.
In 1953, the remaining four movies in her filmography were released. The aforementioned Mesa of Lost Women, filmed a couple of years earlier, is her main claim to fame. Hungarian director Herbert Tevos began the project, casting Tandra and wanting to become her mentor, but the production encountered many difficulties and was finished a couple of years later by Ron Ormond. You haven’t live a productive life without at least seen this project once.
Tandra also appeared in The Neanderthal Man as a mute housekeeper, and also in Problem Girls and Girls of the Night. She also claimed to have stood up to big shot Howard Hughes at some point.
In 1954, she married a guy not at all connected to show business, which resulted in two children and prioritizing family life. Tandra Quinn still resides in Denton, Texas, now a widow. It’s all in her honor that she’ll always be remembered for that lousy movie, and that is why that unique kind of performers become immortal.
