Ageless sex-symbol Julie Strain turns 45 today. She stills stars in many direct-to-video productions, so you have no excuses in not having seen her recently.

Kelly Hu: 40

Birthdays, Kelly Hu No Comments

February is quite the month here at Cult Sirens, as no less than seven guests celebrates their birthdays. Today the amazing Kelly Hu reaches the big 4-0 and she still looks approximately fifteen years younger. She has a trio of thrillers coming out this year, with titles like Stiletto, Farmhouse and The Tournament. So keep your eyes open!

The following photograph is without a doubt my all time favorite of Kelly’s (and so many to choose from!):

One of my favorite English beauties turned 82 today. Hazel Court has been in many classic horror films that are still a joy to see today.

Mamie Van Doren

The reason why tight skirts and bullet bras were created…
This eternal pin-up is turning 75 or 77 today (or is it another number?). One of Hollywood’s longest living and still active sex symbol, Mamie is still showing her stuff on her website, persevering in the creation of more nude material. Let’s not forget that she’s still one of the very first female performer to belt out a rock song in the late fifties! Watch out for her role in 1958’s Teacher’s Pet as nightclub singer Peggy DeFore who sings “The Girl Who Invented Rock and Roll” to a mixed-up Clark Gable!

Caroline Munro: 58

Like a vast majority of you, I really discovered Caroline Munro in the pages of Fangoria Magazine, in her profile available in issue #4. We also learned more about her in issue #7, as she recalled her participation in the grisly film Maniac. She was a bouquet of fresh air wherever she appeared and her enthusiasm, charm and sincerity are always welcome. Still looking absurdly young, let’s wish her a happy one.

Cult Sirens: 5 years already

Birthdays, Blog updates No Comments

This month marks the fifth year of creation of the Cult Sirens website. My, has it grown!

I actually created the main site for two reasons: mainly to test some web standards HTML and CSS coding and secondly to translate some of my own French articles that were available on my previous site, AstroneF Magazine (which can now be called “late, lamented” I suppose, but not by me). These writings were included in a Scream Queens section that was the main attraction in a very copious menu dedicated to horror, fantasy and science-fiction. Confirmation was made to the person writing these lines that web pages with pictures of attractive women were a big hit, even when fully clothed. So that decided me to actually cough up some bucks and create my own site, knowing that my passion for cult actresses would be shared with fellow enthusiasts… and I could make some money with it.

After unsuccessful associations with Amazon and Gorilla Nation, I decided to go with Google Ads, which has proven quite satisfactory to this day. I deeply know that if I could devote my full time to Cult Sirens, it success could surprise even me. But alas time is precious, as we all know. With my day job being also concerned with web matters, sometimes when I go home I’m still haunted by HTML code (I know that my Avengers site still suffers from negligence).

So yes I became sluggish and the key to revitalize the Cult Sirens brand was the creation of this blog, which is alive since September 2007. I’m satisfied with the always growing number of visitors and most of all my own output. Writing short articles, little essays or simple birthday wishes has kept the interest very high and made me realize that the subject is virtually without limits.

So for 2008, I’ll do my best to keep on being regular, mainly on the blog. I have other projects concerning nice, smiling and healthy-looking women, but these should be more spicier/kinkier and will be of no concern here, as I still try to keep a “no nudity, no vulgarity” policy in these pages. Still, I’ll very soon share a post with you on the subject of pornography that may be surprising…

As for why I keep the Comment option closed, it’s mainly because I don’t care wasting precious hours in handling and moderating all kind of spam and garbage. Simple as that. If you ever want to share information with me, your own views and observations, please see the About page and write me. Interesting feedback could be discussed in a regular post.

So I’ll keep ‘em comin’ if you keep readin’!

Tia Carrere: 41!

It’s the big 4+0+1 for one of the very first guest that ever graced the Cult Sirens site! Tia brought me good luck and I hope the day is as special as the person herself!

Barbara Steele: 70 or 69?

Birthdays, Brinke Stevens, Barbara Steele, Elvira No Comments

Another one of our favorite princess celebrates her birthday today: Barbara Steele. Never quite figured out if she was born in 1937 or 1938 but what the hell? Seems that her next movie comes out in January 2008, which has the charming title of Her Morbid Desires. Cassandra Peterson and Brinke Stevens are also supposed to be in it, so who knows? These Sirens are hard to put down…
