Of course, everybody likes fine reading. The fact is, since the popularity of the Internet, I less and less continued to buy movie magazines, as prices went up and the topicality became out of touch. There are some rare exceptions to my shopping habits, though, and one of them is Video Watchdog, still going strong.

Doubly sweet for that last issue is the fact that you can find the usual quality reviews of the last important DVD releases, but you can also take delight in two very important articles on a couple of legendary Sirens with very different backgrounds and careers, namely the sadly recently departed Hazel Court and the iconic and enigmatic Meiko Kaji.

Nobody lasts forever, they say, but some legends will never die. The memory of Scream Queen Hazel Court will stay with us as long as there are movie fans. She was a unique performer, who could effortlessly mix elegance and sexiness in a single scene.

Court passed away after a heart attack at her home near Lake Tahoe, California, last Tuesday.

One of my favorite English beauties turned 82 today. Hazel Court has been in many classic horror films that are still a joy to see today.
