Interestingly, my not very loquacious dad once admitted to me that he saw her perform in Montreal in the early fifties, quite an admission!. Lili was a favorite in town, much to the chagrin of Catholic groups, who all were very influential at the time. In fact, she was once arrested right here in town for obscenity or whatever. She was acquitted but things would never be quite the same in local nightlife. Still, she wrote in her autobiography that Montreal had always remained one of her favorite places.
