We have a new Cult Siren today… so go meet the awesome Mylène Demongeot!

“More Latex! More Party! Extra Everything!” the tagline screams. Well, I’ll be going to the premiere of this documentary in a couple of days. This is very exciting, mainly because I had the chance to briefly talk to some of the people involved and sure enough, they are extremely obliging and friendly. Actually, director Martin Perreault and event promoter Éric Paradis were kind enough to supply me with some sought-after tickets for the event.

Don’t forget that this is part of the 2008 Fetish Weekend, of which I talked about some time ago. Our gracious hostess and honorary Cult Siren Bianca Beauchamp will of course be the point of focus for this premiere. Expect a full report next week! And check out the official site!

I still remember seeing the Get Christie Love! pilot on French television right here in Quebec, on a Monday night. I was but a teenager but I quickly became a fan of actress Teresa Graves right on the spot, for her beauty, talent and gasp! her height (5′ 10″). Oddly, I can’t seem to recall if the series itself (22 episodes for the 1974-75 season) had been translated in French. I don’t believe so. Oddly, the role that she will always be remembered for was her last, as she retired soon after the series was canceled.

Teresa Graves was born January 10, 1948, in Houston, Texas. Her artistic career began was she was a member of The Doodletown Pipers, a singing group that used to include up to 30 members. Then she began some television work on a couple of shows, mainly being part of the Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In cast.

She made few motion pictures, these mainly for the blaxploitation genre being popular in the early seventies, like That Man Bolt and Black Eye and a British horror-comedy, Vampira. In 1974 for Get Christie Love!, she made American television history as being the first African-American woman in a dramatic lead role. Graves was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The show ran only one season, but is still well remembered by anyone who has seen a single episode. Her classic line “You’re under arrest sugah!” has been immortalized in Reservoir Dogs, in a most charming manner. She of course played a charismatic street cop. The series was probably inspired by all those wonderful Pam Grier low-budget action pictures popular at the time, but oddly the role has been first offered to Cicely Tyson.

Being a Jehovah’s Witness resulted in Teresa refusing some roles on moral grounds, and finally dropping off of acting altogether. She devoted her remaining years to religion, still living in California but not talking much about her past. Tragically, she died in a house fire in 2002, due to a faulty space heater. Her neighbors were very surprised to learned that she had been a pioneer of the television industry.

Take this for what its worth, but a couple of years back Whitney Houston showed some interest in playing Christie Love for a big screen version…!

So there’s a chance for a new Red Sonja movie, even if Rose McGowan and Robert Rodriguez aren’t a couple anymore (or are they? who knows about these things?). Well, I’m all for any comic book adaptation starring a strong heroine… but these action movies taking place in ancient legends are more often than not stiff and monotonous, with more duds than gems in the lot (exemple: anyone remember the 1985 version?). Rodriguez will produce, with Douglas Aarniokoski directing. All this was revealed during a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International last month.

Can Miss McGowan handle the action, though? Is beheading Thulsa Doom’s minions more demanding than shooting zombies with an artificial leg? Only time will tell. This promotional poster is still very nice to look at, though. Shooting starts in October.

Amazingly, we share the same birthday (July 25), as she came into this world as Linda Ann Hopkins, in 1976, from Great Falls, Montana. Her mom is Thai and her dad Jewish American, which resulted in a most successful mix. She was raised in San Francisco, where she was discovered at the sweet age of 13 by a talent scout for the Eileen Ford Modeling Agency, nothing less. She worked as a fulltime teenage model but returned to studies when she reached her eighteenth birthday. Of all things, she got a degree in microbiology.

But you can’t keep a young girl down, so Tera began nude modeling for men’s magazines, which led to soft and hard cores features, with a little side step for bondage and foot fetish projects. She became a Penthouse Pet and was also featured in Playboy. With more interesting financial opportunities on the horizon, Tera took the plunge into the XXX world and became one of its reigning queens.

If you want to follow her career since its first steps, remember that she performed under some aliases, including Tara Patrick, Sadie Jordan, Brooke Thomas, Tera Hopkins or Linda Shapiro!

Andrew Blake’s Aroused is considered her real debut into the harder stuff. Experts were quick to notice her enthusiasm during sex scenes and of course any display of that astonishing 5’9’ body getting all sweaty was enough reason for a rapid claim to fame. She won the 2000 Hot D’Or Best New Starlet, that being an adult film industry award from Europe. Of course, her home country didn’t forget her, as she was awarded many AVN trophies and the like also.

She married actor/musician Evan Seinfeld in 2004 and was thusly ready to forsake her adult movie career, to the chagrin of millions. But she was successful in breaking her contract with Digital Playground to form her own entertainment company, Teravision Inc. Oddly, she now performs sex scenes only with her husband, but doesn’t mind getting nasty with other females actresses. She also opened her own agency, aptly called The Tera Patrick Agency. Her webcast is still popular.

Tera Patrick has now turned 32, an age that can be considered too old for this industry. But she still remains a breath of fresh air for her looks in adult productions and is more and more talked about in the mainstream press. Hollywood personalities seem to adore her. Is a regular part in a big-budget feature so unlikely (or even low-budget, doesn’t matter)? I hope not.

Now who is that gorgeous creatures, I hear you ask? Well, for the first time I present you with a Siren that is actually a personal friend. Kyra is a Montreal-based Cambodian model and fashion artist with which I had the privilege to work with these past months. Kyra has come into my life at a point when I needed new challenges and a new circle of interesting people to interact with.
